A. The hereinafter described group of monuments are designated as the official base of levels for the city of Sacramento. All grades of streets, buildings, sewers and other elevations shall be referred to said base of levels; and whenever in the provisions of this code or other city ordinance, orders, resolutions or enactments an elevation shall be named in feet, it shall be deemed to mean so many feet above or below mean sea level relative to the hereinafter established base of levels.
B. The monuments forming the base of levels are as follows:
1. A U.S. Geological Survey monument designated 147M located at the west entrance of the Post Office Building on I Street between 8th and 9th Streets. Elevation being 29.377 feet above mean sea level.
2. A U.S. Geological Survey monument designated 148M located at the east entrance to the Post Office on I Street between 8th and 9th Streets. Elevation being 29.383 feet above mean sea level.
3. A U.S. Geological monument designated 21B located ninety-seven feet southeast of the southeast corner of the State Capitol Building. Elevation being 21.378 feet above mean sea level.
4. A U.S. Coast and Geodetic monument designated "Sacramento" located in Plaza Park opposite City Hall. Elevation being 28.465 feet above mean sea level.
C. The datum plane established by the abovementioned monuments shall be known as and shall be referred to as "city of Sacramento datum." (Prior code § 1.01.080)
