In order to preserve the character of planned unit development (PUD), the development guidelines adopted for the PUD may specify a sign program that allows for signage that otherwise would be prohibited under this chapter, including, but not limited to, signs that would be prohibited by Section 15.148.1030 of this chapter; and to prohibit signage that otherwise would be allowed under this chapter. Where the development guidelines pertaining to signs do not address specific criteria, then the provisions of the sign ordinance will prevail. Any sign located within six hundred sixty (660) feet of a free-way or of a route for a freeway which has been adopted by the State Highway Commission must comply with requirements of the California Department of Transportation.
