13.10.450   Segregation of organic waste.
   A.   No person shall place organic waste in the garbage or recyclable containers. Customers shall source-separate food waste from garbage or recycling generated on the property.
   B.   Subsection A does not apply if the customer has been granted an exemption from organic waste collection services pursuant to this chapter. Customers who have been granted an exemption from organic waste collection services may place organic waste only in the garbage container.
   C.   Nothing in this section prohibits a customer from preventing or reducing waste generation, managing food or yard waste on site, or using a community compositing site pursuant to section 18984.9(c) of title 14 of the California Code of Regulations.
   D.   Any person who violates this section is guilty of an infraction, punishable by a fine in accordance with California Government Code section 36900. (Ord. 2023-0024 § 27; Ord. 2021-0031 § 5; Ord. 2013-0009 § 3)
