2.48.040   Appointment of members and qualifications.
   A.   Number of members. The board has five members.
      1.   The Personnel and Public Employees Committee shall recommend five members for appointment:
         a.   At least one member must be a California licensed general building contractor who was a general contractor on more than one construction project in the city during the two years immediately preceding appointment;
         b.   At least one member must be a California licensed architect who has practiced in California for at least three years immediately preceding appointment;
         c.   The remaining three members of the board may consist of any combination of the following: California licensed general building contractors as specified in subsection A.1.a above; California licensed architects as specified in subsection A.1.b above; or any of the following:
            i.   A California registered structural engineer who has practiced in California for at least three years immediately preceding appointment;
            ii.   A California registered fire protection engineer who has practiced in California for at least three years immediately preceding appointment;
            iii.   A California registered mechanical engineer who has practiced in California for at least three years immediately preceding appointment;
            iv.   A California licensed plumbing contractor who has practiced in California for at least three years immediately preceding appointment;
            v.   A California licensed mechanical contractor who has practiced in California for at least three years immediately preceding appointment;
            vi.   A California registered electrical engineer who has practiced in California for at least three years immediately preceding appointment; or
            vii.   A California licensed electrical contractor who has practiced in California for at least three years immediately preceding appointment.
   B.   Qualifications. In addition to any requirements or restrictions in chapter 2.40:
      1.   Members must have an expressed interest or demonstrated history of involvement in the California Building Standards Code and the city building code. (Ord. 2024-0028 § 1)
