2.40.080   Failure to attend meetings.
   A.   Three absences from regular meetings in a calendar year is deemed good cause for removal of a board or commission member from office under the provisions of section 232 of the Sacramento City Charter.
   B.   The city clerk shall send a written communication to a board or commission member after their third absence in a calendar year. The city clerk shall thereafter consult with that board or commission member's recommending authority before commencing the removal process under section 232 of the Sacramento City Charter. As used in this subsection, "recommending authority" means, as applicable, the mayor, councilmember, or for a member recommended for appointment by the Personnel and Public Employees Committee, the chair of that committee.
   C.   For purposes of counting absences under this section:
      1.   The failure to attend a meeting by any board or commission member on account of the performance of their official city duties does not count as an absence.
      2.   A board or commission member will be counted as absent if they fail to attend a meeting for a majority of the duration of the meeting. (Ord. 2024-0042 § 4; Ord. 2022-0024 § 2)
