For the purposes of this article, the term "canvassers" is defined to mean any person not having an established place of business in the city, who, for himself or herself, or as agent for another, goes from place to place, or from house to house, in the city, soliciting orders or subscriptions for, or selling or disposing of newspapers, magazines, periodicals, books and all other publications, whether collecting advance payments on such subscriptions or sales, or not.
