A. Election Of Chief And Assistant Chief: The chief of the fire department shall be elected in odd numbered years. The assistant chief of the fire department shall be elected in even numbered years. Each shall hold office for two (2) years, and until his successor has been duly elected; except, that he may be removed by the council for cause and after a public hearing.
B. Appointment And Removal Of Firefighters: Firefighters shall be appointed by the members of the department subject to confirmation by the city council. Firefighters may be removed by the city council for cause and after a public hearing.
C. Resignations: All resignations from the department shall be presented to the membership at a regular meeting.
D. Loss Of Membership:
1. Any member of the department moving from the fire protection area shall forfeit membership in the fire department.
2. Firefighters absent from a combination of three (3) monthly meetings or practice drills annually, unless excused by the chief, shall forfeit membership in the department. (Ord., 4-27-1993)
