§ 152.004 INTERPRETATION OF CERTAIN TERMS AND WORDS.
   For the purpose of this chapter, the following interpretations shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   (A)   Words used in the present tense include the future tense.
   (B)   Words used in the singular number include the plural and words used in the plural number include the singular.
   (C)   The word “person” includes a firm, association, organization, partnership, corporation, trust and company as well as an individual.
   (D)   The word “lot” includes the word “plot” and “parcel”.
   (E)   The word “building” includes the word “structure”.
   (F)   The word “shall” is mandatory, not directory.
   (G)   The words “used” or “occupied” as applied to any land or building shall be construed to include the words “intended, arranged or designed to be used or occupied”.
   (H)   The word(s) “map”, “zoning map” or “town zoning map” shall mean the “official zoning map of the Town of Rutherford College, North Carolina”.
   (I)   The term “Zoning Inspector” shall include the term “Watershed Administrator”.
   (J)   The term “zoning permit” shall include the term “watershed protection permit”, and the term “certificate of occupancy” shall include the term “watershed protection occupancy permit”.
   (K)   The phrase “date of recordation” shall mean the date on which the deed for a parcel of property was filed with the County Register of Deeds.
