505.02 IMPOUNDING AND DISPOSITION; RECORDS.
   (a)   The Police Department may impound every animal or dog found in violation of Section 505.01. If the dog is found not wearing a valid dog license tag, the Police Department shall turn it over to an officer charged by law with the custody and disposal of such dogs. If the dog is wearing a valid dog license tag or the identity of the owner or custodian is otherwise established, the Police Department shall immediately give notice to the licensee, owner or custodian that the dog has been impounded. The animal or dog shall not be released to its owner or person having charge thereof or any other person except upon the payment as follows: fifteen dollars ($15.00) for the first violation; twenty dollars ($20.00) for the second violation; and twenty five dollars ($25.00) for all subsequent violations. Any dog remaining unclaimed for a period of three days of the date of impound, shall be release to the custody of the Wood County Dog Warden, Animal Control Facility or otherwise disposed of as provided by law.
   (b)   A record of all dogs impounded, the disposition of the same, the owner's name and address, if known, and a statement of any costs or receipts involving such dog shall be kept.
   (c)   Impound fees shall be paid to the City of Rossford at the Rossford Police Department prior to returning an animal or dog to the owner of custodian.
   (d)   The City may contract with a facility to hold the animal or dog during the impounding of the animal or dog and shall pay the costs of such upon proper invoice.
