(A) No person shall erect, project, or suspend over the sidewalks any sign, shed, awning, or other structure, unless same is erected under the supervision of the Commissioner of Streets.
(B) The structures must be securely fastened and their lower edges shall be not less than ten feet above the sidewalk level, nor shall they extend beyond the width of the sidewalk; provided, however, that awnings of cloth or other similar material may be constructed and suspended over the sidewalk if their lower edges are not less than eight feet above the sidewalk level and if they are erected under the supervision and by permission of the Commissioner of Streets.
