§ 150.24  URBAN CHICKENS.
   (A)   The maximum number of domestic hens permitted to be kept on a property zoned and occupied for a single-family residential use shall be limited to 6 hens.
   (B)   The keeping of roosters and the slaughter of any chicken is prohibited.
   (C)   All chicken coops shall be approved through the Village’s design review process.
   (D)   Hens shall be housed in an enclosed chicken coop approved by the Zoning Department, or within an adjacent covered outside fenced in area. The outside area shall be no larger 32 square feet.
   (E)   Hens shall be kept in the enclosure and let out only with supervision in a fenced yard.
   (F)   The enclosure and adjacent occupied fence area shall be set back 30 feet from any adjacent residential structure, and not less than 20 feet from the property line.
   (G)   All enclosures shall be constructed and maintained in a manner to be free of rodent infestation.
   (H)   A coop permit issued by the Village shall be required prior to the installation of any chicken coops. Anyone desiring a permit for a coop shall pay a $25 fee to the Village.
   (I)   All electrical services must be inspected and approved by the County Building Department. Extension cords may not be used to provide power to chicken coops.
   (J)   All areas where hens are kept shall be maintained neat and clean, and free of undue accumulation of waste such as to cause odors detectable on adjacent property.
   (K)   The owner shall not allow chickens to produce noise loud enough to disturb the peace of neighbors.
   (L)   The owner shall allow inspections from the Village Code Enforcement and Zoning Department.
