§ 71.16 U-TURNS RESTRICTED.
The driver of any vehicle shall not turn such vehicle so as to proceed in the opposite direction upon any street in a business district and shall not upon any other street so turn a vehicle unless such movement can be made in safety, and without interfering with other traffic.
(1984 Code, § 7-6-2) (Ord. 431, passed 1-16-1956) Penalty, see § 70.99
Statutory reference:
I.C. 9-21-8-22 prohibits U-turns under certain conditions, viz., upon a curve or hill crest where visibility in either direction is less than 750 feet. This section is, however, more broadly restrictive than the statute, and the enforcement officer will need to determine in a particular case whether a violation is one of statute and must be cited as such, or is a violation only within the scope of the town ordinance. Enforceability of the purely town restrictions would be doubtful if signs were not posted.
