§ 52.049 OUTSIDE METER INSTALLATIONS.
   Whenever a water meter is installed outside of a building, it shall be installed in a pit which meets with the approval of the Waterworks Department. The pit shall be not less than 20 inches in diameter and not less than four feet in depth with a cast-iron cover as approved by the Department. All meters shall be raised within 18 inches of the top of the meter box pit. Where it is necessary to install outside meters the costs of such installation shall be borne by the consumer. Where a meter is located on the inside of a building the consumer shall be responsible for any damage that occurs to the meter when damage has occurred, and upon notification thereof the Department will repair or replace any such meter but will make a charge to the consumer to cover the costs of materials and labor in case of repair or to cover the new meter in case a new meter is furnished.
