11-1-4-7: RECREATION AREAS AND STRUCTURES:
Within the public park system are several designated recreation areas, as set forth in section 2-16-5 of this code that are under the jurisdiction, operation, maintenance, and control of the Riverside parks and recreation board. The board of trustees, village manager, parks and recreation board, and recreation department shall work cooperatively to ensure that recreational activities and programs are conducted in such manner that trees, shrubs and other plantings surrounding or situated within the recreation areas are preserved and maintained free from injury; that the open areas are policed and kept in a neat and tidy condition; that efforts are made to preserve the grassland areas; that recreation structures and facilities (fencing, benches, etc.) be constructed of natural wood or stone materials or of materials dark in color; and that, whenever possible, such structures and facilities be so installed as to be removed when the pertinent seasonal or scheduled recreation activity has been concluded.
