6-1-26: TRUANCY:
   (A)   To prevent, reduce or control juvenile delinquency within this village, as provided in 105 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/26-1, it shall be unlawful for any minor between the ages of seven (7) and seventeen (17) years of age who is a truant, chronic or habitual truant, or truant minor, as defined in 105 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/26-2a, to be found on any public street or public way or in any public park or public building or in any establishment open to the public within the village during school hours of a school day in which classes are being held.    (B)   In addition to the penalties provided in 105 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/26-10 and 5/26-11, any parent or other person having custody or control of a minor subject to the provisions of this section who knowingly and willingly permits such minor to be in violation of subsection (A) of this section shall, upon conviction, be subject to the penalty as hereinafter provided. For purposes of this subsection, it shall be presumed that the parent or other person having custody or control of the minor subject to the provisions of this section shall knowingly and wilfully permit such minor to violate the provisions thereof where the parent or other person having custody or control of said minor has previously received a notice, in the manner as provided in section 6-1-19 of this chapter, that said minor is in violation of this section.    (C)   Any minor between the ages of seven (7) and seventeen (17) years of age, and any parent or other person having custody or control of said minor, who violates the provisions of this section shall, upon conviction, be subject to the penalty as provided in section 1-4-1 of this code for each offense, and each day upon which such violation continues shall be regarded as constituting a distinct and separate offense. In lieu of filing a complaint in court, the proper police officer or other designated officer may employ the compromise and settlement procedure as provided in section 1-4-6 of this code in full settlement, compromise and disposition of any claim violation of this section, including employment of community service work as provided in section 1-4-7 of this code.
