6-1-22: PEDDLERS:
To maintain peace and order, and preserve and protect the health, safety and welfare of the village's residential community, and to avoid increased congestion in the village's central business district, no person shall engage in the business of selling and delivering at retail, or offering for sale and delivering at retail, any goods, wares or merchandise while traveling from place to place, or stationed on or along any public street, alley, public sidewalk, public parking lot or other public place in the village; nor shall any person engage in such selling activities from any mobile food unit, pushcart, or any hand propelled vehicle, bicycle or motor vehicle, or from any packs, baskets or similar containers while traveling from place to place or stationed on or along any public street, alley, public sidewalk, public parking lot or other public place within this village. This section shall not apply to mobile food units for village sponsored events or village approved chamber of commerce events open to the public, or to street or sidewalk sales activities conducted by merchants or by civic, charitable or religious organizations pursuant to a special permit as provided in section 8-2-25 of this code.
