It shall be unlawful for any person to be in any designated public park and recreation area during the hours when such areas are closed to public use, as posted, or for any person to destroy, deface, or remove or intentionally damage any park equipment, accessory facilities, signs, or barricade gates or chains therein. Anyone in violation of any of the provisions of this section shall, upon conviction, be subject to the penalty as provided for by section 1-4-1 of this code. In lieu of filing a complaint in court, the proper police officer or other designated officer may employ the compromise and settlement procedure as provided in section 1-4-6 of this code in full settlement, compromise and disposition of any claimed violation of this section.
