5-1-6: NOTICE OF TERMINATION:
If a license extends beyond one month, it shall be the duty of the clerk, from ten (10) or twenty (20) days prior to the termination of the license period, to cause a written notice to be mailed to each licensee, directing the attention of such licensee to the fact that a new license will be required on the day following the expiration of his existing license and directing his attention also to the amount of the license fee and to the penalty for failure to procure a license in accordance with the provisions of this code governing the issuance of such license; provided, however, that failure on the part of the clerk to cause such notice to be mailed to each licensee shall not be deemed a defense to a suit brought by the village to recover the penalty for a violation of the code provision under which the license is required to be secured.
