No person or entity shall engage in the business of servicing fire extinguishers without first having obtained a license as provided in this Chapter. No such license shall be issued to any applicant that has not presented a current and a valid State of Illinois license issued pursuant to the Fire Equipment Distributor and Employee Regulation Act of 2011, as amended. 225 ILCS 217/1. The licensing requirement applies to any services related to the selection, installation, inspection, maintenance, and testing of portable extinguishing equipment and kitchen suppression systems. All licensed technicians shall be listed under the company with each technician’s license number; and verify if a technician is certified in portable extinguishers, kitchen suppression systems, or both.
