The director of emergency services shall, whenever any fire engine, hose, truck, ambulance or other apparatus is in need of repair, report such fact, indicating the amount and nature of necessary repairs, to the public safety committee, and with the committee's consent shall cause such repairs to be made, under his or her direction and supervision.
