9-2-13: DRIVING UPON SIDEWALK:
Pursuant to 625 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/11-1412.1, no person shall drive any vehicle upon a sidewalk or sidewalk area except upon a permanent or duly authorized temporary driveway. This section does not apply to any vehicle moved exclusively by human power, to any electric personal assistive mobility device, nor to any motorized wheelchair. Nothing in this section shall be deemed to limit or preempt the authority of the corporate authorities from regulating or prohibiting the use of electric personal assistive mobility devices. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this section shall be fined, upon conviction, not less than one hundred dollars ($100.00) nor more than seven hundred fifty dollars ($750.00) for each offense.
