9-2-11: PARKING IN BUS STOPS:
Subject to the concurrence of the traffic and safety commission 1 and to the approval by ordinance of the president and board, the chief of police is hereby authorized and required to establish bus stops on such public streets in such places and in such number and of such length as he shall determine to be of the greatest benefit and convenience to the public, and every such bus stop shall be designated by appropriate signs. For specific bus stop designations, see schedule 5, section 9-3-5 of this title.
   A.   The driver of a bus shall:
      1.   Not stop such vehicle upon any street at any place other than at a designated bus stop. The term "bus stop" is defined as a fixed area in the roadway parallel and adjacent to the curb set aside for the expeditious loading and unloading of passengers only.
      2.   Not stop such vehicle upon any street at any place for the purpose of loading or unloading passengers other than at a designated bus stop, except in case of emergency.
      3.   Enter a bus stop zone on a public street in such a manner that the bus, when stopped to load or unload passengers, shall be in a position with the right front wheel of such bus not farther than eighteen inches from the curb and the bus approximately parallel to the curb so as to not unduly impede the movement of other vehicular traffic.
   B.   No vehicle other than a bus shall be parked in a place so designated as a bus stop. (1981 Code)
