5-2-4: RESPONSIBILITY OF ABUTTING PROPERTY OWNERS:
All public street, alley and sidewalk pavements shall be kept in good repair. All sidewalks and parkways shall be kept in good repair at all times by the abutting owners at their own expense. (1981 Code)
When in the opinion of the village, the condition of a sidewalk constructed of brick pavers is no longer considered safe for pedestrian traffic, the village shall so notify the abutting property owner in writing and provide a thirty day period to repair said sidewalk. If at the end of such thirty day period, suitable repairs have not been made, the village shall be empowered to replace the brick paver sidewalk with a Portland cement concrete sidewalk. The village shall also be empowered to obtain reimbursement from the abutting property owner for all of the costs of said replacement. (Ord. 2353, 7-24-1989)
