3-4-2: NUMBER OF PASSENGERS LIMITED:
It shall be unlawful for the driver of any taxicab to convey more than that number of persons for which such vehicle has seating accommodations (exclusive of the driver's seat), and in any event not more than five passengers of the age of twelve years or more at the same time. After any driver has been hired by one or more persons traveling together, such driver shall not pick up other persons along or upon any street or highway in the Village, except only upon the express request of the person or persons first engaging said taxicab, and it shall be unlawful for the driver of any such taxicab to solicit the permission of the passenger or passengers first hiring the taxicab to pick up any additional passenger or passengers.
No person driving any taxicab shall permit any person to ride on the front seat with the driver thereof, provided that the rear compartment of the taxicab has a capacity to accommodate five passengers. (Ord. 2668, 2-12-1996)
