Each subdivider of a subdivision, the tentative map of which is approved by the Commission after the effective date of this section, shall provide, as part of the improvements of the subdivision, street trees. An amount equal to the cost of furnishing, locating, planting and fertilizing street trees and providing and installing supports for street trees in such subdivision shall be provided. Street trees shall be planted and maintained in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 96 of this code and any pertinent policies adopted by the City Council.
