For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
FIVE-DAY BIOCHEMICAL OXYGEN DEMAND (expressed in parts per million or PPM). The pounds of oxygen required for biochemical oxidation of the organic matter in one million pounds of sewage or waste in five days of incubation at 20°C.
SUSPENDED SOLIDS (expressed in parts per million or PPM). The pounds of solids physically suspended in one million pounds of sewage or wastes.
