Any person desiring employment with the City must complete a job application form, which requests information regarding relevant personal and professional background and training. In addition, a condition of employment shall be that, after an offer has been extended to an applicant, the applicant must submit to a medical examination by a physician of his/her choice and submit the results of that examination to Council. This examination will be conducted solely for the purpose of determining whether the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job to be filled, given the benefit of reasonable accommodation, if necessary. All medical information, including medical information provided as a result of the preemployment physical examination, shall be kept confidential.
Employees shall be selected on the basis of merit and qualifications to fulfill the duties, obligations and responsibilities of the job. Employees shall be notified in writing of their appointment to their respective positions. The notification will include a job description, rate of pay, date of employment, and other pertinent information.
