The purposes of the Planning and Zoning Commission shall be to promote the orderly development of the City of Ripley, to improve the present health, safety, convenience and welfare of the citizens of the City, to plan for the future developments of the City and to the end that future growth be carefully planned with adequate highways, utilities, health, educational and recreational facilities; that the needs of agricultural, industrial and business be recognized in further growth; that residential areas provide healthy surroundings for family life, and that growth of the community be commensurate with and promotive of the efficient and economical use of public funds.
