(a) The Commission shall be comprised of nine (9) members consisting of the Police Chief, Mayor, two (2) members of City Council, Recorder, a member of the City police force, a community business leader, and two (2) citizens of the City of Ripley.
(b) The Chief of Police shall recommend a member of the City police force as nominated and selected by the officer themselves and the Mayor shall recommend a community business leader and two (2) citizens of the City of Ripley. Such nominees shall be recommended to and voted on and approved for appointment by City Council. The Council shall also recommend two (2) of its members based upon its approval to serve on said commission along with the Recorder. The goal in making such appointments shall be to ensure sufficient diversity among its membership.
(c) Members of the Commission shall serve a four (4) year term. The inaugural Commission members shall serve until the first election following the Commission’s formation. Thereafter, new members shall be appointed or reappointed by as set forth under subsection (a) above to serve a four (4) year term.
(d) Meetings shall be held by the Commission on a quarterly basis with no fewer than four (4) meeting being held annually. Additional meetings may be held should the need arise at the request of two (2) or more members of the Commission in writing requesting the same with proper notice being given to all Commission members.
