Class 1 and Class 2 of the National Fire Protection Association provides that liquids with flash points below 20o F are Class 1 liquids and that liquids with flash points 20o F. and below 70o F are Class 2 liquids. Those included in Class 1 are ethyl, ether, acetone, carbon, disulfide, gasoline and benzene. Class 2 includes amyl acetate, ethyl, alcohol, toluene, ethyl acetate and varnish. These do not include such liquids as kerosene, turpentine and fuel oil with Class 3 flash points above 70o F.
