Beginning with the election of May 2022, any person desiring to be a candidate for the office of Mayor, Recorder or Councilman/Councilwoman or any other elective office in the City shall file with the Recorder of the City a notarized written certificate of announcement of his or her own intention to be a candidate between the dates of February 1 to February 18, 2022. Thereafter and to coincide with other filing timelines for future primary elections under W.Va. Code Section 3-5-7, following the election of May 2022, candidates for the office of Mayor, Recorder or Councilman/Councilwoman or other elective office in the City shall file their notarized written certificate of announcement between the second Monday of January and the last Saturday of January preceding such election. The certificate of announcement form for filing shall be the current form prescribed by the Secretary of State's office and furnished to any applicant by the Recorder. W.VA. CODE Section 3-5-7. Such written certificate of announcement once completed shall be filed at City of Ripley Municipal Building, along with the applicable filing fee for the office being sought. (Revised January 2022)
