(a) All owners of multi-family or institutional residential buildings which have elevators shall install and maintain what are commonly referred to as “elevator button tamper protection devices,” protecting each elevator alarm button. Such devices shall be installed in every elevator in such building accessible to the public. The form of device shall be approved by the Village Fire Department.
(b) Failure to install and maintain such devices shall subject the owner to fines of not less than $250.00 nor more than $750.00 for each offense.
