(a) The Scholarship Committee shall convene a minimum of three meetings per year. Attendance at all meetings is mandatory. The meetings shall be for the following purposes:
(1) Scholarship application and award criteria review and update.
(2) Evaluation of all scholarship applications, determination of awards, approval of award and rejection letter content.
(3) Plan and execute scholarship fundraising events.
(b) It shall be the duty and responsibility of all Scholarship Committee members to contribute to the planning and execution of all scholarship fundraising ideas and events.
(c) It shall be the duty and responsibility of the Scholarship Committee to perform the following duties to coordinate the application, delivery and selection process for scholarships:
(1) Annually review and update all scholarship application forms for publication.
(2) Review all received applications without regard to race, sex, religion, age, national origin or sexual orientation to determine if they meet the qualifications for evaluation presented in the scholarship application packet.
A. The Scholarship Committee will not award scholarships to applicants who do not meet the requirements stated in the application packet.
B. The Scholarship Committee reserves the right not to award any scholarships in a given year if applications do not meet the criteria as presented in the application packet.
(3) Rate all qualifying applications using a comprehensive process based on objective standards. Areas that shall be reviewed include:
A. Prior academic performance,
B. Performance on tests designed to measure ability and aptitude for higher education,
C. Recommendations from counselors, principals, teachers, employers, and other individuals not related to the potential awardee,
D. Conclusions based on each applicant's personal essay as to motivation and character.
(4) Determine the monetary awards to be given to the individual applicants based upon available funds and the Scholarship Committees' rating of each application.
(d) Members of the Scholarship Committee and members of their families (spouse, ancestors, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and the spouses of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren) shall not be eligible for any scholarship award.
