1614.01 BUREAU OF FIRE PREVENTION.
   (a)   Establishment; Supervision. There is hereby established, in and for the Village, a Bureau of Fire Prevention in the Fire Department, which Bureau shall be operated under the supervision of the Fire Chief.

   (b)   Chief Inspector. The Fire Chief shall designate an officer or member of the Fire Department as Chief Inspector of the Bureau of Fire Prevention, who shall hold office at the pleasure of the Fire Chief.

   (c)   Assistant Inspectors. The Fire Chief may designate such assistant inspectors of the Bureau of Fire Prevention as, from time to time, is authorized by ordinance.

   (d)   Powers and Duties of Officers.
      (1)   The officers of the Bureau of Fire Prevention shall enforce all laws and ordinances of the State, County and Village covering the following:
         A.   The prevention of fires;
         B.   The storage and use of explosives and flammables;
         C.   The installation and maintenance of automatic and other fire alarm systems and fire extinguishing equipment;
         D.   The maintenance and regulation of fire escapes;
         E.   The means and adequacy of exit, in case of fire, from factories, schools, hotels, lodging houses, asylums, hospitals, churches, halls, theaters, amphitheaters and all other places in which large numbers of persons work, live or congregate, from time to time, for any purpose; and
         F.   The investigation of the cause, origin and circumstances of fires.
      (2)   The officers shall have such other powers and perform such other duties as are set forth in this chapter and as may be conferred and imposed, from time to time, by law. The Fire Chief may delegate any of his or her powers or duties under this chapter to the Chief Inspector.
