(a) At the time of accepting a motor vehicle for storage or parking in a parking lot licensed under this chapter, the person conducting the lot or his or her agent, servant or employee shall furnish to the person parking his or her motor vehicle a distinctive check.
(b) The check shall be numbered to correspond to a coupon placed upon such motor vehicle and shall contain the name and address of the place and the owner operating such parking lot. The date and, if parking is charged for on an hourly basis, the time of acceptance of such motor vehicle shall be written, printed, cut out or stamped on the check.
(c) No person shall affix any parking check on a motor vehicle so as to obliterate, in whole or in part, any portion of the motor vehicle license plate thereof.
(d) Subsections (a) through (c) hereof do not apply to cars parked in a lot on a monthly basis.
