422.08 SALE OF UNCLAIMED VEHICLES.
   (a)   Whenever an impounded vehicle remains unclaimed by the owner or other person legally entitled to possession thereof for thirty days, and after the notice provided for in Section 422.06 has been given, the Police Department shall sell such vehicle at public sale to the highest bidder for cash. At least ten days prior to the sale, notice of the time and place of the sale shall be sent by certified mail to the registered owner, or other person legally entitled to possession, of the vehicle, if known, and shall be posted in a conspicuous place on the premises where the vehicle has been impounded.

   (b)   The proceeds of such sale, after paying all liens and deducting all reasonable charges and expenses incurred, shall be deposited with the Village Treasurer.
