(a) There is hereby created the position of Director of Fire and Emergency Services, a civilian management position. The Director’s work includes determining overall plans and policies to be followed by the Department. The Director’s supervision is exercised through subordinate supervisors over all employees of the Department. The Director’s work is performed under the administrative direction of the Village Manager, who reviews work through conferences and reports for overall program effectiveness.
(b) There is hereby created the position of Assistant Director of Fire and Emergency Services, a civilian management position. The Assistant Director works under the direction of the Director to plan, organize, and direct all activities of the Department. At the direction of the Director, the Assistant Director supervises all employees of the Department.
(c) Neither the Director nor the Assistant Director is authorized to engage in any firefighting activities and may not actively participate in the work of controlling and extinguishing fires at the location of such fires.
(d) The Director and Assistant Director shall be appointed and removed by the Village Manager.
