(a) Established. There is hereby established, under the direction and control of the Police Department, the Police Corps of Cadets.

(b) Appointment and Dismissal. The Chief of Police shall appoint cadets, who shall be at least eighteen years of age and of good and honorable character. The Chief shall also relieve cadets of their duties and deny cadets membership in the Corps for just cause.

(c) Powers and Duties. Cadets shall have the following powers and duties, when properly assigned and on duty:
(1) To aid or direct traffic in the Village;
(2) To aid in the control of natural or man-made disasters;
(3) To perform administrative work under the direction of the Chief; and
(4) To operate the police radio in the performance of police duties.

(d) Carrying Firearms Prohibited. Cadets shall not carry firearms.

(e) Rules and Regulations. The Chief shall establish rules and regulations for the Corps not inconsistent with this chapter.
