(a) The Village Attorney shall attend meetings of the Board of Trustees and shall advise the Board, or any Village officer, in all matters of law in which the interests of the Village are involved. The Attorney shall, when required, furnish written opinions on any subject submitted to him or her pertaining to the Village or its interests. He or she shall draft all ordinances, deeds, leases, bonds, contracts, notices or other instruments in writing as may be required of him or her by the President of the Board, the Board or any committee thereof or the Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals, and shall pass upon the legality of papers submitted to him or her pertaining to the Village or its interests.
(b) The Attorney shall represent the Village in all matters before the Illinois Commerce Commission and any other regulatory body in which the Village may be a party or directly interested.

(c) The Attorney shall discharge all of his or her duties faithfully and honorably in accordance with the law and with the directions and assignments given to him or her by the corporate authorities and the Village Manager.
