220.03 MEMBERSHIP; GENERAL POWERS AND DUTIES; OATH; COMPENSATION.
   (a)   Membership; Election; Term. The Board of Trustees shall consist of six members elected for terms of four years, with three Trustees elected at each election. The Trustees shall be elected by the electors of the Village at a general election held therein and shall serve until their successors are elected and qualified as provided by statute.

   (b)   Powers and Duties. The Board shall be the legislative body of the Village and shall perform all such powers and duties as may be provided by statute or by this Code or by other ordinances of the Village.

   (c)   Oath of Office; Compensation. A member of the Board shall, before entering upon the duties of his or her office, take the oath of office prescribed by statute. He or she shall receive such compensation as set from time to time by ordinance.

   (d)   Inauguration; Elected Municipal Officers. The date and time for the inauguration of municipal officers newly elected at any general municipal election at which the officers were elected shall be the first regular or special meeting of the Board of Trustees during the month of May next following the proclamation of the results of the general municipal election at which such officers were elected, and the terms of such officers shall commence from and after such inauguration.
