5.60.030: SOLICITOR DEFINED:
The term "solicitor", as used in this chapter, includes any person, whether a resident of the city or not, who goes, either as principal or agent, from house to house or place to place, soliciting and taking or attempting to take orders for sale of goods, wares, merchandise, or personal property of any nature whatsoever for future delivery, or for services to be furnished or performed in the future, including subscriptions to magazines, periodicals, or other publications, or the distributing or offer to distribute any coupon, certificate, ticket, card, or other token which is redeemable in goods, discount, wares, merchandise, premium or services, whether he is collecting advance payments on such sales or not, provided that such definition shall include any person who, for himself, or for another person, firm, or corporation, hires, leases, uses, or occupies any building, structure, tent, railroad boxcar, boat, hotel room, lodging house, apartment, shop, or any other place within the city for the sole purpose of exhibiting samples and taking orders for future delivery.
