Wireless telecommunication facilities are regulated at the federal, state and local level. The 1996 telecommunications act contains provisions concerning the placement of antenna structures and other facilities for use in providing wireless services, and preserving the right of local agencies to regulate these facilities based on aesthetics, visual impacts and land use impacts.
