The purpose of the M-1 light industrial zone is to provide appropriately located areas for the establishment of light industrial plants and related activities, and to promote the concentration of such uses in a manner which will foster mutually beneficial relationships with each other, as well as with the areas of the city zoned for heavy industrial development. The regulation of uses and standards of development set forth for the M-1 zone are those deemed necessary to provide the proper environment for the efficient and desirable use of light industrial land, and to provide the proper safeguards to protect nearby residential, commercial and public uses.
