Section 903.2.18 of the California fire code is hereby amended to read as follows:
903.2.18 Group U Occupancy. An automatic sprinkler system shall be provided throughout buildings containing a group U occupancy where the fire area exceeds 200 square feet (19 m2).
Exceptions:
1. When approved by the fire code official, group U occupancies, not located in the high or very high fire hazard areas of the jurisdiction as identified by California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
2. When a group U occupancy is not located within fifty (50) feet from an adjacent building, structure, and/or property line.
