Section 111 of chapter 1, division II of the California fire code is hereby amended to read as follows:
111.1 Board of Appeals. The city planning commission shall serve as the board of appeals. The chief building official, director of development services and the fire chief of the city, or their respective designees, shall serve in an advisory capacity when requested to do so. Board members shall disqualify themselves and shall not participate in any decision in which they have a conflict of interest.
