A. The following days shall be recognized by the City as paid holidays:5
New Year’s Day | Labor Day |
Martin Luther King Day | Veterans Day |
Presidents’ Day | Thanksgiving Day |
Memorial Day | Day after Thanksgiving |
Juneteenth | Christmas Eve |
Independence Day | Christmas Day |
B. Monday shall be recognized as the holiday for all holidays that occur on Sunday, and Friday for all holidays that occur on Saturday.
C. If an employee is called upon to and does work on any of the holidays set forth in this section, he/she shall be paid as provided in § 70-705, Overtime.
D. Any employee who is absent without paid leave or reasonable excuse, either the workday before or after a holiday, will forfeit the holiday pay.
E. Each employee shall be granted two personal days in addition to the above mentioned holidays which shall be taken with the approval of the department director.

F. Personal days must be used in the year in which they are earned.7

G. Upon separation from the City of Reading, unused personal days are forfeited. Personal days will not be paid out.
