A. All applicants who have been made an offer of employment by the City are required to submit to and pass a physical examination, including drug testing, by the City Health Officer. The purpose of this examination is to determine if the prospective employee is physically able to perform the job for which he or she is being considered and to ensure that the applicant's physical condition will not endanger the health, safety or well-being of existing employees.
B. Additionally, the medical examination will establish that the person is capable of performing the essential job functions with reasonable accommodation if necessary. This medical examination and drug testing will be given prior to the commencement of employment. Failure to submit or complete this medical examination and drug testing will be viewed as rejection of the offer of employment.
