The Public Works Assistant shall be under the direct supervision of the Public Works Director and shall carry out the responsibilities assigned by the Public Works Director. In the absence of the Public Works Director, he or she shall perform the duties of the Public Works Director and duties of Water Commissioner, Wastewater Commissioner, Street Department Commissioner, and Landfill Commissioner, excepting however those functions, duties and acts as may otherwise be expressly required by the Municipal Code or the statutes of the State of Nebraska to be done, performed or carried out by the Public Works Director in his or her official title as director of the utilities described above, or other appointed officers of the municipality.
