Nothing contained in the Electrical Code shall apply to manufacturers performing work covered by the Electrical Code in their own plants and with their own employees, nor to telephone companies, electric light, heat or power companies or railway companies operating under a franchise with the City or the State, in the installation, maintenance, removal or repair of wires, conductors, apparatus or equipment used in connection with their business.
