§ 96.05 NONCONFORMING USES.
   The regulations prescribed in §§ 96.03 and 96.04 shall not be construed to require the removal, lowering, or other change or alteration of any structure or tree not conforming to any provision of this chapter as of the effective date thereof, or otherwise interfere with the continuance of any nonconforming use. Nothing contained in this chapter shall require any change in the construction, alteration, or use of any structure the construction or alteration of which was begun prior to the effective date of any ordinance adopting, amending, or prescribing any provision of, or regulation within, the subject matter of this chapter, if the construction or alteration is diligently prosecuted and completed within 2 years thereof.
